Disturbing

The earth is angry.
What land is not awash in floods and mudslides,
grinds to a halt under ash and fire,
or shivers under unfamiliar snow and ice.
The frogs are disappearing,
and those that survive
have extra legs and
contorted bodies.
Birds drop from the sky
like lemmings
in a mass suicide.

The earth is angry and
we just shrug and say, hey,
just an unfriendly weather cycle
or natural evoluation.
If my grandmother Ella
was alive she'd shake her head and say
does it have to bite you
in the arse to listen?
The earth is angry,
and her patience with the
human race is non-refundable.
