Proceed With Caution (2005 & 2006)

In February, 2005, I wrote:

Proceed With Caution

don't read me through feel sorry eyes
I am not that person
listen closely to my voice
as it echoes off the bumps and recesses
of your experiences
hear the differences in timbre
note the quiet space between
the thrumming of my pulse
and your convictions
I am simply living my moments
following this new thread of my mosaic
wondering...wondering...wondering....

And in October, 2006, I write:

Proceed With Caution

don't write me safe at home
during this world series
event of more than two years
but my body shivers in anticipation
that it is whole again
despite the rogue cells laughing
somewhere in the darkness
in waiting to raid the living
but I am watching
and my doctor manager who says
we will not let down our guard
I am simply living my moments
as if on parole for good behavior
as I mix metaphors between the
absurd and more absurd
hoping...hoping...hoping....
